McKay International Engineers

PED Low Profile Cranes

In early 2022, McKay and Liftech combined forces to create a full-service entity providing mechanical,  electrical, and structural engineering services for our clients.  McKay will continue to operate as a subsidiary of Liftech until we have fully integrated our teams to provide synergistic and creative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

McKay is a mechanical and electrical engineering firm specializing in heavy equipment design with an emphasis on container cranes and bulk material handling equipment.  We are experts in custom high duty cycle heavy lifting equipment including machinery, reeving, electrical drives, and controls.

McKay was incorporated in 1969 and our founding principals were instrumental in the design of the world’s first ship-to-shore container handling cranes.  McKay has since conceptualized and developed many iconic container crane features, such as articulated booms, low profile shuttling booms, modified A- frame designs, catenary support trolley systems, hydraulic anti-sway and snag protection, dual-hoist tandem-forty headblocks, and the ship-in-a-slip and APMT FastNet concepts.

McKay assists with mechanical, electrical, and overall system designs and subsystems on a wide range of custom heavy machinery for port, maritime, bulk handling, and heavy construction industries.  Our designs have ranged from conceptual design to full detail manufacturing drawings and support.  We provide various options for procurement services, starting with requirements identification and specification development, continuing to design review and construction management, all the way through machine acceptance and warranty support.  We routinely help our clients with engineering support throughout all phases of the equipment life cycle, including modifications, uprating, relocation, and demolition.  We also provide failure analysis, accident investigation, and expert witness services.

For more than 50 years, McKay has served clients globally to ensure they receive productive, reliable, and maintainable equipment from manufacturers around the world.
